Resident Opener Was A Success!

Many Have Moved Back North

But Enough Around To Get A Few!

Favorite time of year, and our Resident opener is in the books with a…

30!!!

It wasn’t fast and furious, just enough to keep it interesting, what with the temps as warm as they are. The stubble in some spots has greened up and that also makes it tougher than it should be. On the bright side, the 3-Pintail limit made things much easier today and I am sure it will make for much less stressful days in the field.

Most of our birds were just going water-to-water, as they often do when the temperatures get as warm as they have been. With the amount of birds that we say over the refuge though, it is looking to be a pretty good early part of the season. No bands and nothing out of the ordinary except for the fact that there are more snows around than I originally thought. The molts have finally started to arrive and that helps as well, new blood is always good.

Do I have a Deal For You!!

I hadn’t been pushing it too hard but the time has come to start really trying to move this boat, it’s been a good one for the last two years, but with the desire to start going year-to-year so as to avoid the over the winter payments, the time has come to really get after it.
