GO BEARCATS, THE NORTHSTAR Variety
If it was up to me, I would fish everyday, all day, and twice on Sunday. Sometimes though, life interrupts the pursuit. Today, tomorrow, and Saturday is one of those instances.
My Niece, Macey Kvilvang, and her teammates are playing in the North Dakota Class B State Tournament this weekend and I will not miss it for the world and all the Perch Christmas Trees in the lake.
The Northstar Bearcats are 24-0, were ranked #1 in the state poll all year. They were the preseason #1 and have achieved their goal of returning to the state tournament.
Macey, Peyton, Steph, Madison, Mya, Kellie, and the rest of the team have brought great excitement and pride to their community and families and for Macey, Peyton, Madison, and Kellie; this is their last hurrah.
A Family Affair
Basketball has always been a family affair. My father, John Elsperger, was the Head Boys Basketball Coach in Cando for years and our entire family annually took the trip to the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament every year.
My Sister Trina, Macey’s mother, was an All-State performer and played in 4 State Tournaments. My Nephew Christian played in a State Tournament and is now at Jamestown College playing for the Jimmies.
Macey is a 6’5 (you read that right, 6 foot 5) post player heading to NDSU to continue her career at the D1 level next year, but her and her teammates feel they have some unfinished business this weekend.
We will have guys on the ice this weekend and I may sneak away in the mornings to get a few hours in, but I will be off the grid for a few days cheering for the Bearcats and my favorite Bearcat, #12!
Good Luck out there.
Go Bearcats Go, great priorities. Good Uncle.
