It’s Never Too Early To Get Em Hooked!!
Yes, fishing was very, very tough today, but that is not where our concern lies because fish are going to do what fish do when you have fog for 4 days and then a big warm-up. Nope, what has us concerned is that warm-up and the effect that it is going to have on the cracks and ridges on the lake; many of which are now snow covered. The last time the temperatures did what they did over the last 36 hours, 2 snobears when in the lake.
You need to be extremely careful around any areas where there are cracks or ridges over the next couple of days. Those cracks and ridges are going to be pretty active. Traveling in the dark is going to be especially hazardous. Yes, we are getting into the 16-20 inch range in areas, even thicker up north, but like Lake Irvine last week, cracks will open up revealing open water in no time. Please respect the ice and be careful out there.
Fishing today was tough, it wasn’t for a lack of seeing fish, we saw a ton. Getting them to bite was a chore. Heck, getting them to come up for a look was tough. I blame the change in conditions, everyone I talked to said the same thing, fish that wouldn’t bite, over and over and over again.
Funny, not a lack of fish, just a lack of biting fish; seem to go against the narrative that the ‘guides’ have destroyed the lake. Seems to me if that was the case, we wouldn’t be seeing ANY fish. Please help me understand what is amiss!!
Less than 15 feet of water today, we threw the kicken sink at em, thank the lord for the White Bass, which are starting to become a problem, they stinking everywhere!
