Ice Fishing

Wednesday Weekly Ice Conditions: Dec 31, 2025

Today’s Post Has Nothing To Do With Fishing

Everything To Do With Safety

As soon as we find out where this occurred, we will try to bring that information to you

Take a good, hard look at that pic. After a 1-day warm-up that is the result up on Lake Alice/Lake Irvine, and yes, a Snobear went through there. Anything the temperature spikes like it did yesterday, stuff like this is going to be the result. Yes, we have a good amount of ice now, 14-16 inches in some spots, a little more in others, but your due diligence is still required.

When Ice contract like it did yesterday, any weak areas are going to break free, creating hazard areas like the one above, and it can happen to anyone, be it on foot, side-by-side, snobear, or pick-up; there is no warning. Now today, the temps are right around 0 degrees again. However, any area that started to break free is NOT going to be mended yet, gonna take a few days for that to happen.

It seems like every time over the last few years, whenever we have had one of these drastic temperature swings, down-up-down, something like this occurs.

Be extremely careful out there, no fish is worth a like.

Good Luck out there!
