The Heat Damper’d the Hunting
But The Walleyes Were Willing

Eighty-five degrees is not what you would call ideal hunting weather, and the birds didn’t really want to feed. Went from seeing over 200 in the field the night before, to only seeing about 60 on the wing Wednesday morning, luckily for us, we managed to get 9 of them to do it. We see this a lot in the early season when the temps get up there. Lazy birds that have no drive to feed, give ’em a couple of days and just a slight cool down, they will get back to feeding again.
There are a lot of them out there, they ARE getting thinned out though as more crop keeps coming off. It will take lots of miles of scouting.
With every negative, there has to be a positive, that the Walleyes were more than willing this morning. Seems like every time they straighten out after a little cold front, they go on the feed, and that was the case today. Over 25 feet of water with spinners and worms again. Probably still going to be like that for another month or so.

Good Luck out there!
