Monday Weekly Fishing Report #13

Fish In All Depth Zones, Lots of Little Walleye and Little White Bass

Safe To Say

It is safe to say that if you come to fish Devils Lake right now, your are going to catch fish, and probably a lot of them.  Problem is, 80-90% are going to be really small, 1 and 2 year old fish small.  The small Walleyes and small White Bass are on a tear right now and are feeding lie crazy.  The goal is to find the right fish and the right fish when they are feeding.  Sometimes easier said than done.

Our Recommendation To Find The Right Fish

TROLL!!

That is the key right now, troll and troll and troll.  Hit shorelines and weed edges.  Hit as many depth level shorelines as you can in as short a period of time as possible.  We have caught fish in 30 feet, 25 feet, 22 feet, 19 feet, 17 feet, 12 feet.

There are just fish literally everywhere on the Big Devil right now.  It is finding the right ones that is the task.

We have some spots for you.

We have been doing two things to find our keeper fish.  Pulling Salmo Hornets, #4’s and #5’s, on old shorelines in 20-30 feet of water

-and-

Pulling bottom bouncers with spinners and worms in 12-25 feet of water.

Those are the two areas and two techniques we are using to put keepers on the cleaning house table.

Colors!?

This past week the Gold and Black Salmo was on fire, out-fishing the other colors about 5 to 1.  Spinners didn’t really seem to matter but anything with chartreuse in it will attract a bite.

Don’t Want To Use Lead Core?

Long line with these, works just the same, just requires a lot more line!

  1. Would like to come to Devils Lake and catch perch. About when do they start biting, Sept?

    1. There are pockets of them biting now. We can take you to a spot and sit on them and we might get 15 we might get 2. Very weather, and especially wind dependent. Calmer days are best. We are actually going to two schools that we know of and going to try them today!! Stay tuned!
