I absolutely LOVE This Time Of Year!!
Today was a quick one, only needed 5, my 1st 2 spots were duds, third time was the charm. Much, much shallower than I expected by about 7 feet. Less than 20 feet water with 2 spinners and worms.
Of note, we have not been seeing the usual 30-40 dinks that we usually have to catch before you get your limit. Today, 3 throwbacks before I had 5 15-16.5 inchers.
Should that concern us??
With the lake not having any run-off last year and the year before, I don’t think they had real good spawns, therefore there are a ton of 3- and 4-year-old fish, but just not as many 1- and 2-year-old fish. This year, with a lot of run-off they probably had a pretty good spawn. We may see a couple year gap, I truly hope not but it does seem like the smaller fish just aren’t there.
