Ice Fishing

Wednesday Ice Conditions: Dec. 17, 2025

Finally Hit A Foot!!

We finally reached a foot of ice in a few holes today. Had we not had this mini-warm-up, we would be working on 13-14 inches right now. Over the last 48 hours, we didn’t make any ice, but we didn’t lose any either so that is good. We did however, lose pretty much all fo the snow that we had on the ice so things are very slippery out there. Cleats are a must, that is until after this latest snow fall tomorrow.

Going to get cold again after this front and we are going to be making ice again, full steam ahead!

Big Wind And Storm Tomorrow, Blizzard Like Conditions Forecast

With 1-4 inches or snow tomorrow, precluded by the chance of rain before that, and then anywhere from 30-90 mph winds; well tomorrow is not going to be a ‘fishable’ day in my opinion. There have already been Blizzard Warnings issued for the Devils Lake area. Yes, everyone has GPS and some of you are here from afar, but with those conditions, even in a snobear, things are going to be dangerous.

Now I have a hard time believing that the winds will reach 70-90 mph, I do however believe that 40-50 mph gusts are possible and even likely. Depending on how much falls as rain and how much falls as snow, things are going to be downright nasty out there.

The Boys Got ‘Er Done Today!!

All of our holes today were over 11-inches and all of them were under 30 feet of water.

Some on Buckshots, some on Varmints, and some on Tungsten.

All with either a minnow head or small whole minnow.

Good Luck out there!
