Starting To Really See Some Activity
Been spending a lot of time in the middle of the fishery the last few days, mainly because we have found some good fish here. They aren’t all over, just roaming pods, but when you get into them, they are pretty consistent. There are quite a few weeds starting to come up so it is essential to stay just on the outside of them, but once you establish the weed edge, it becomes pretty easy.
A slow and steady retrieve has been best
The lack of Pike numbers is both nice and troubling, all at the same time. Never would I have thought we would ever have wished for a few more Pike in the fishery, but for you Walleye lovers, it is a great time to be a Devils Lake Angler.
Lately, it has been at times, extreme boredom followed by minutes of excitement, followed by more boredom. They definitely come in bunches.
The biggest thing has been for us, to not get discouraged about a spot. If you know the fish are there, stay on em. I know we have wasted some time, staying a little too long, but more often than not it pays off in the end.
Lures We Have Used
Colors wise, it seems like there are 2 or 3 that have been working pretty well. Subscription will get you those. For lure type, it has been Shad Rap #6 SR, Shad Rap #5 SR, and Shad Rap #6 SSR. We haven’t really used anything else. Scatter raps haven’t been that good recently, but since we have kind of been on a #6 kick, we haven’t really gone back to them either. Have heard sine reports if guys getting some good fish over west with Salmo Hornets trolling but we aren’t to that point yet as long as we can still get them Pitching.
Depths?
We would love to tell you the exact depths that we have been fishing, but that is something for Subscribers and Members. If you would like to know, here are the links for you:
