All About The Boys Right Now!

Let The Girls Keep Swimmin’

So That Future Walleyes Have The Opportunity To Do The Same

Males are milking like crazy and the hens are about to do their thing. It is imperative that we are releasing those bigger fish right now so that we have more fish for the future. If I am catching fish right now, I am checking, and if they aren’t milking, it’s probably a female and she is getting released, no matter the size.

There are plenty of males out there, practicing selective harvest will go a long way in making sure that we have fish for the future. There is absolutely no reason to keep any females right now.

Plastics are key right now. If you can get your hands on some leeches, even better but not necessary.

Slow, slow retrieves were also key in getting these fish to bit as there is a lot of current, and 1/4-ounce jig heads to get in the strike zone; lighter and the jig will get go with the current. More current right now than we have had in 3 years.

Another day of nice weather before we are back in the freezer for a few days again, get out there and do some casting while the weather permits.

ATTENTION!!

Something ToThink About!!!!!
I haven’t seen any rolling yet, but it won’t be long and our farmers are going to be starting to turn some wheels and getting planting going. There is a lot of traffic with the spring run going on, especially up in the northern portion of the basin. Keep in mind, it is their livelihood and it is your leisure activity, give them a break.

If a tractor is coming your way, get way over and find an approach to let them pass. Do not block the roadway, they don’t have time for your stupidity. Nothing will make a farmer or their hired men more ticked off than some fisherman causing them issues.

As the son of a farmer, I know 1st hand and as the brother of a current farmer I get it.

Also, watch your speed, nothing makes for washboard roads more than guys going way too fast on gravel, ease up on the accelerator a little bit and conserve the gravel.

Won’t Be Long Now!!

Currently, one could get to the 6 Mile boat launch and venture all the way to Channel A. Now, that is weather dependent, and one wind switch would cause a lot to issues if you were to get stuck up there. Watch the forecast and watch the wind, but it is doable.

Picked Em Up At The Bus Station!

The coot bus must have dropped em off recently!! Raft of coots by the 6 Mile bridge, funny how they show up right around the full moon! One day there are none, next day they are everywhere!
