Wednesday Weekly Ice Conditions: Jan. 24, 2024

Some Scary Stuff Happening This Week

With rapidly changing temperatures going on out there the last few days and are going to continue to occur, we are going to have some massive changes in ice conditions, especially around cracks and pressure ridges. Monday there were a SnoBear and a Side-By-Side that went through around a pressure ridge. We say troubling ice spots in the Western portions of the lake. A massive pressure ridge to the east had a lot of action going on and the big ridge in EDL is no longer crossable.

All of this is going to create some issues out there and while some of you are going to want to try to cross some of these places, please don’t. Not is not the time to be daring out there, at least not until the temperatures level off and start to drop again.

Nor those areas that don’t have a bunch of cracks and ridges, the ice is actually really good, 23-25 inches in many areas. The ice thickness will probably be at a standstill for a few days now as temperatures rise, but thankfully, we have that really good base now and we should be good to go. With that being said, we all still need to remember…

NO ICE IS SAFE ICE!!

Follow these guidelines so that you come back alive:

NO FISH IS WORTH A LIFE!

Fishing Today!!

We had another ‘possessioned out’ day today and I am really starting to enjoy these days. We were shallow again, less than 15 feet and we got to 7 really quickly and then we had to grind em out with a bunch of throw backs before we got to our 10 keepers.

Buckshots again with minnow heads, like that is a big surprise!!

Good Luck out there!
