Hunting (General), Ice Fishing

Our Waterfowl Has Ended, Time To Get To Work!

Almost a Full 3 Months!!

It Was a Great Season!

We don’t get that many of them but every once in a while, a little jewelry shows up in the pile. It is aways a nice surprise!! We were able to knock downs 3 of them this year, all Canada’s, and all in the Ealy Season, go figure!

From Honkers To Cranes To Ducks!

Our Crane flight was one of the weakest in a long time, I don’t know if the flyway is moving west or what is going on, but that is 3 years now were we really haven’t had a huge push of Sandill Cranes. All to that, we were seeing a lot more Specks coming though in the fall, tells us the Crane flyway is shifting West and the Speck migration might just be shifting to the East a little bit. That is a tradeoff I will take in a second!!

The boy make us proud this year, really got it done!!

With Regular Duck Season, Came Lots of Duck

Pintals Everywhere!!

Another year came, and another year with the Pintal limit being 1 again. The Fish and Wildlife and DU need to open their eyes and adjust the way they count ducks. The Pintal population is booming and yet they still hamper us with a 1-Pintal limit. If the Pacific flyway is hurting, then adjust their limit, but the prairie potholes are heathy, there is no reason to punish us for their misfortune.

Love Those Specks!!

The duck hatch in the Central Flyway was a pretty good one and there were a lot of young-of-the-year ducks to be had. Limits weren’t the rule, but we had plenty of birds to go around.

The Wheat and Barley harvest was an early one, and then the rains came to halt the bean harvest, so we were stuck with something of a spilt season with great hunting early, with lull, followed by a snowstorm that almost ended our season. That left us in limbo, would we have a good late season or not. And then the snow melted, the corn came off, and we ended with a back.

There is really nothing like the power of the golden kernel. Ducks in corn can’t be beat!!

As we always do, we would like to thank all of the landowners who allow us to do what we do, without their cooperation, we wouldn’t be able to operate. Mark and Mark, our bird cleaners; another awesome job in making our lives a lot easier. To Kyle and Spider, thank you again for giving me the opportunity every year to continue to do what I love. Strubb, JB, Dev, Warren, Landon, Dillon, and Remmy; no other crew that I want to go to the field with. All of your help scouting and working together make this job so much more rewarding!! Until next spring boys…

Good Luck out there!
