Wednesday Weekly Ice Conditions #18

ICE ALERT!!

It is our opinion that if you do choose to go out on the ice that you do so in a group and not alone and that you also do so on foot.

We talked with a couple groups that were on the ice last night and they are not going back out.  One of them is a very experienced Ice Fisherman and he said he was ‘sphincter pinched’ coming off.

We here at DLFR know when the time to throw in the towel arrives and this is it.  We have decided to end our 2016-2017 Ice Fishing Season.  It was a good one and we are sad to see it go, but, there being NO OFF-SEASON, we are on to the next thing, or should I say things.

End Of The Year Offering

We have preached the importance of keeping records and the patterns of Perch bites on Devils Lake in the winter.  In keeping with that sentiment, we are offering a Waypoint Bundle with every Waypoint we logged this winter.  We keep these records in order to help with our future Ice Fishing seasons and want to extend the opportunity to you our readers.

The Next Thing

We mentioned moving on to the next thing.  Well, things (plural) actually.  Tomorrow night will be our first, Open Water, Long Rod, excursion of the year.  We haven’t nailed down what location we are headed to yet, but you can bet your hind end our hands will come in contact with Pike slime, hopefully we can locate some Walleyes as well.  Some reports of Walleye successes have come in already and we are chomping at the bit to get in on some casting action.

If you would like to go but just don’t know where to try or would like to be able to locate some of the ‘out of the way’ areas to find some alone time while you fish, we also have just what the doctor ordered.  Our 2017 Spring and Summer Shore Fishing Guide.  There are over 100 locations for you to fish Devils Lake without needing a boat.

Tundra Conservation Time!!

Also, the skies have been filled with Snows and Blues the last few days and we will also be chasing the White Devil this weekend.  There aren’t a whole lot of dirty birds mixed in with this front push so we will be chasing mainly adults and we know that that means low mortality rate, however, it will be fun to set up decoys and have that ‘waiting anticipation’ of a hunting trip again.

If You Still Plan On Going On The Ice

If you are a true die hard and still plan on testing fate with one last hurrah on the ice, please don’t go alone and make sure people know where your group is going.  No fish is worth a life.

Good Luck out there!

Hold On To Your Rod…

And…

CATCH MORE FISH!!
