Too good to be true usually means that it is. If you have a few extra sick days to burn up and your mental health is nursed back from the brink by fishing, take that time now!!!!
The weather has been on and off with wind and rain but brief windows of sunshine have allotted some epic fishing excursions. Our Thursday limit took all of 55 minutes.
Pitching #5 Scatter Raps into 2-4 feet of windblown shoreline while dragging bottom bouncers with either gold or orange/yellow spinners on the outside with the boat in 6 feet of water on one of the northern feeder lakes produced one of those hard to duplicate fishing outings.
Due to many of these rain showers mixed with windy days water temperature had dropped from a warming 69 degrees back down to a downright chilly 62-63 degrees. This inspired us to adventure in the afternoon rather than morning and the results were spectacular.
My color of choice for Scatter Rap was Bleak and my partner’s was blue, both gave positive results. The northern feeder lakes are still on fire. A smaller boat is necessary to get on most of these smaller lakes and ditch dumping is required. Access to Dry Lake for big boats can be attained at the Dry Lake campground for a daily $20 fee. Is it worth it? I will let you decide that.
