Shore Fishing, Snow Geese, and Now Boat Fishing Too!!
It’s A Wonderful Time To Be Alive!
More than likely, we will be in the boat tomorrow, cause the lake is about 96% ice free and what is left is just chards. So begins open water fishing and will, for the most part, end our shore fishing part of the year. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot of shore fishing to be had. Basically, you can catch Eyes and Pike throughout the Summer on Devils Lake, but in order to establish patterns and stay up on the bite on Devils Lake, we need to get in the boat.
Our last day from shore today was a pretty quick one and the Walleyes are still biting. Of the 5 Walleyes we kept today, 3 had no eggs/milk in them and 2 were still milking. Either those1st three weren’t going to spawn or they had already done it. I think as times we get too caught up in fact that there are or aren’t eggs left in our fish. Instead of dwelling on whether or not they have spawned already, we should focus on just catching fish. When they are in different stages of spawning, there will be fish biting somewhere.
What To Throw??
We got our 5 early today, although that last one was a little bugger. After we had 4 in the bucket, we had 7 or 8 hits before we were able to get that 5th one. Paddle tails again in Orange/White today.
The End Of Spring Snows!
Our Spring Snow Goose season in North Dakota will end this weekend, but for us the end was pretty much yesterday. It was one of the weirdest migrations in recent memory and birds that were here one day were mysteriously gone the next. Millions of birds that came through, then went back south, then split; leaving us putting on far more miles than we probably should have had to.
Our Spring crew got it done for the most part and we had a number of 30-70 bird days, culminating in back-to-back 90+ bird days to end it. I wouldn’t trade these guys for any other group. The comradery and banter with these guys make it all worth it.
To all of our clients, we thank you for a great season, we couldn’t/wouldn’t do it without you.
If you would like to partake in this awesome experience next Spring, you need to call Eric and AllFlockedUpOutdoors and book a trip for next Spring -OR- if you can’t wait that long and are looking to August/September for some Ealy Season Canada Goose hunting, he still had a few open days but they are going fast. Don’t miss your chance at pursuing North Dakota’s true ‘Big Game’ as B52’s glide into our spreads.

We would be remiss if we didn’t also mention the coming fall and Duck season. The nesting portion of our year is going on right now and as long as they have even an average hatch, there are going to be A LOT of ducks come this fall. We are the Duck Factory for a reason, and the wet spring is going to be churning out a lot of ducks.
Call Northern Flight soon as there aren’t many days left open.

And that’s a wrap!!
Good Luck out there!
