Windy Walleye Hideout!! Limits To Be Had!!

Hiding Out From The Wind AND Catching Fish!!

When clients from afar come to Devils Lake, they want to fish.  In reality, I want to fish, all the time actually!  So when the wind comes up, no matter which direction it is out of, we sometimes have to get creative.  One thing I love about Devils Lake is the fact that no matter which direction the wind is from, there is a boat launch and a sheltered shoreline that is fishable.

Today was just such an instance!  I am never going to go just to go.  I go to catch fish regardless of the conditions, if I am not intent on putting fish in the boat then I am not going.  Today was tough, boat control and staying the ‘bite zone’ was time consuming and at times frustrating; when we were in that zone though the fish were numerous and quality keepers.

What Depth You Ask?

A little deeper again, but a few in that shallower range too.  We stayed in 14-26 feet of water all day.

What Color?

Blue!!

Blue again was a good color again today as was the ole ‘Devils Lake Gold’; ALWAYS have at least 1 Gold spinner down!!

We will see better conditions tomorrow and going forward as these gale force winds leave us!

Good Luck out there!
