Quick Quick One Today

Found This Pod Yesterday But They Just Wouldn’t Finish

THEY FINISHED TODAY!

Sometimes 1 degree is all it takes. I found these fish yesterday, I could get them to chase, could get them to follow-up, could even get them to bite; but they just wouldn’t finish the deal. Short bite after short bite leaving me completely frustrated.

Decided, with a similar wind, I had to go back and see if they were any more aggressive.

Forty-five minutes later and I had my 5 Walleyes. Amazing what 1 degree increase in water temperature will make. You should be looking for 65 degrees, 60-64 should be good enough, but man were they active at 65.

Shrimp, It’s What’s On The Menu

Both fish were just loaded with shrimp. Their stomachs were absolutely stuffed with them. It is what all of our fish in Devils Lake thrive on. One of the reasons why DL Walleyes run short and fat, there is never a lack of forage. Shrimp and bloodworms are going to make up about 90% of a DL Walleye in the summer.

Less than 10 feet of water with cranks today, I cannot stress enough how important it is to try to find the warmest water possible. Warmest water = most active fish.

Cranks Today!

Going to have a slow transition from plastics being preferred to cranks being the better choice. For now, I am going to be rotating the two, but very shortly it’ll be 75%/25% until the next cold front.

Keep Up On The Bite With A Membership -or- Subscription

We are in the business of keeping you informed on the bite on Devils Lake. I am on the water 5-7 days a week just searching for the next good bite. None of that matters without your viewership and we thank you for that. To really get an edge on the water, we strongly suggest one of 2 options, Membership for those o you that want a huge boost, or subscription those  that want just a little nudge.

Good luck out there!
