Almost A Couple Unicorns

In March They Would Be
One never expects them, but we are always looking for them, that hard THUMP at the end of your rod. Went to a spot where I knew there was the possibility of getting a few today and this lake did not disappoint. When it was all said and done, we ended with 12 Perch. Not all of them were the Super Mega Jumbos, but 6 of them absolutely were! Over 12 inches for me, qualifies as an extraordinary specimen, it was good to see that there are still some in the lake!

We were pretty shallow as Perch go today, under 20 feet of water, and we were targeting both Perch and Walleyes. Got two of those as well, and that pesky pike:

Had 11.5-12 inches of ice today, and it was really good and solid. Higher temperatures tomorrow I don’t think will cause any issues because, well, 11 inches is 11 inches, and the days are much shorter. The temps are going to drop after tomorrow as well so everything should be good to go.

I think that now, the only area that maintains some sketchy ice is probably EDL. Reports are that EDL is not ready yet, needs another cold snap, everything West of the Woods-Rutten bridge is over 6 inches now and much of it is double digits, nearing that magical ONE FOOT!!
Coffin Spoons, Buckshots, and even a Tungsten today!
Good Luck out there!
