Fishing Report, Ice Fishing

Monday Weekly Fishing Report: Dec. 30, 2024

Pretty Good Week

Yesterday and Today– Not So Much

With a search day yesterday, that did not produce and a guide day today that was not good, we have to go back to Saturday to go back to our last good day. Call it the weather, call it whatever you like, it is a little of a troubling trend. Hopefully this cold weather that will enter tomorrow will get them back to feeding.

Depths

Almost all of our fish have come from under 30 feet of water. We have only dabbled into the DEEP on two different outings but with this upcoming cold, that will probably be changing. The 10-25 foot range has been probably the best range and we would still recommend that depth range in the immediate future. We would still be in that ‘early ice’ time period.

Lures and Baits

We have been using a lot of Buckshots, Varmints, and Coffin Spoons with only one day where we really got some good ones with the Tungsten. We threw the tackle box at them today and nothing worked.

I’m a minnow head guy but will throw down the whole minnow when they get slow. Spikes only worked for us two days ago and nothing worked today. With this coming cold front though, expect to be able to really get em with the Tungsten and spikes.

Two years ago, we had one of our best Perch years ever, it seemed like the Perch were biting everywhere. Last year, with the weirdly warm weather, they never really got into a winter pattern and Perch fishing remained tough all winter. It is way too early to tell whether or not it will be a 2023 or a 2024 type fishing year. I do know one thing; we won’t quit trying!!

Good Luck out there!
