With A Few Eyes And White Bass In The Mix
Our 1st fish of the day was, of course, a pike. Fish number 2, the next cast, was an Eye that we lost. Then, the realization that the Pike-a-palooza was on set in. Pike after pike after pike. Tiny ones, small ones, a few bigger ones; just awesome load of Pike, everywhere we went, there were pike.
Don’t get me wrong, they can be a lot of fun, but they are seldom the target species and today, by the end they just got annoying. Needless to say, the Devils Lake Pike population, while on the smaller side, is absolutely healthy!!
Bay Bays
Try to find the warmest water you can, we say 64 in one bay today. Find warm water and you will find active fish, albeit there are GOING to be pike! The further west you go, the warmer the water you are going to be able to find, and while we haven’t ventured to Pelican Lake just yet, we will be getting there probably Sunday, as tomorrow will probably be a wind day. Everything was in Under 10 feet of water.
Lure Selection!
Today, with the floating moss creating a little issue, we got away from our usual scatter rap and went with the SR in #6 and #5. The number #6’s were running a little too deep at times and we used quite a bit of the #5 variety.
Good Luck out there!
