Fishing Report, Ice Fishing

Wednesday Weekly Ice Conditions: Feb. 21, 2024

Stable!

For Now

Let me say this right off…

The ice sheet is good to go at this time!

Now, looking at the short-term forecast, that is going to change rather quickly over the next few day, culminating in Sunday/Monday. I would say that we are going to start to see some changes in the ice in a very negative way by Monday.

Highs of 38 Sunday and Monday a high of 50 will probably hurt a little but then the temps the rest of next week might be a savior. It’s not all doom and gloom and there is hope for fishing into Mid-March, we will just have to wait and see.

You need to continue to be wary of pressure ridges and cracks, the a few windy days coming us, some of those ridges are going to be shifting quite a bit. No one should be crossing ridges anywhere on the lake, it is just not safe.

Today’s Fishing

It appears as though the Perch bite that we have been on is going the way of the negative. They were still there this morning, and some did bite, but by mid-morning they were negative and by noon they were just gone, so it looks like it will be back to searching over the next few days, which is ok with us, we like to search!!

Buckshots got a couple, Tungsten with full minnow for the rest.

Good Luck out there!
