Wednesday’s Take and Ice Conditions!

Ice Fishing WELL Into April!!

And Fish Of All Species To Be Had!

Two problems going on for us right now:

A.  Walleyes are much more reliable to go after with clients

B.  I want to chase Perch but they won’t cooperate consistently

Has me torn between appeasing clients and chasing the species that I would rather be chasing.  But, when clients are in the SnoBear, we do what we have to do.  So, we chase Walleyes and we are having a decent level of success.  Reserving the later hours of the morning and the afternoons for Perch searching.

That has hampered our Perch numbers as the afternoons have been really tough, overall for all species.

We got our Walleyes today in 12-17 feet of water and they were ‘ON’ as soon as we got on the spot.  Fired up actually.  Pink/White Flutter Spoon, Wonder Bread Buck Shot, and the bigger PK Spoon in Pink were the lure that got us our fish.

Ice Conditions!

Looking at 28-31 inches of ice in almost all areas and extensions are going to be much better for your back.  With no big warm-up on the horizon, we are going to have ice well into late March and early April.  Good news for the Ice Fishing fan, great news for us!!

Also, there is very little snow left out there and wheeled travel is possible in just about all areas.  Again, on sunny days you won’t have any issues as avoiding the drifts will be easy.  On a cloudy or low visibility day, hitting a drift and getting stuck is possible but not probable.  Good news for the DIYers and Weekend Warriors.

Good Luck out there!
