Getting A Little Thicker!
The Ice? YES
The Snow? UNFORTUNATELY!!
Most popular question in the Lake Region right now:
Can we drive pick-ups yet?
The answer is far from black and white. I will answer that with, I won’t yet. Yes, most holes are 14-16 inches. I did however drill into two spots today that were 10 and they weren’t terribly far away from where it was 16.
I am a daredevil when walking out on 3-4 inches; I am a wuss when it comes to vehicle travel, I always err on the side of NOT losing 1000’s of dollars through the ice.
Snow Becoming An Issue!
While we dodged a bit of a bullet with this last blast of snow, we still got a few inches and it blew around a lot creating drifts on top of drifts.
ATV’s with tires are a crap shoot out there, if you are chained up you should be ok. Pick Ups are going to be ok for now but in my opinion, the entire ice sheet is not truck worthy right now so I wouldn’t. Any more snow and it is going to be tracks only out there.
Hopefully this next mini cold snap will finish off our ice to that 16-18 inches when we feel safe driving a truck out there.
Time will tell!
On A Bit Of A Streak!
Even with the changing weather patterns, fishing has been quite good the last few days, we aren’t even trying for Walleyes right now as we are going right to the Perch spots.
SOLD OUT
Good Luck out there!
Might be interested in a day on the ice with you. I am from colorado and want to focus on walleye and pike, perch not so much. Please send me info on rates, how we get out there, etc for possible February trip. Thanks.
We are sorry but February is totally booked
Do you know any info about darkhouse spearing? Where they are getting them & clarity of the water.
I’ve speared before, not my thing. We chase Mainly Perch, Walleyes, and Crappie in the winter. Water clarity is just fine.
