 The ‘Dog Days’

That Moon Factor: Is It For Real

There has been a lot of research, a lot field tests and data collection to say that it does.  Matching World Fishing records to the times and places they were caught shows a statistical coordination between those Major and Minor bite windows.  From the research that I have done and the reading on the subject that I have spent the time to do, the relationship is too slanted to be coincidence.  The data says that, yes, those bite windows increase the activity of biting fish.

Now, this is not to mean that all of a sudden, as the Major or Minor clicks on, that the fish are just going to start jumping in the boat.  It also doesn’t mean that once you are past that Major or Minor window, that the fish are just going to click off.

What it does mean, is that the fish activity is going to increase.  Lethargic fish might get a little more active, fish that are already biting a little, get real active and bite a lot.

I have fished enough and been following the Majors and Minors enough to know that I want to be actively fishing for the Major and try to hit the Minors as well.

I was on the boat with some clients the other day and was studying my phone.  One asked what I was doing and I told him I was checking my Website.  He comments:

Why? Don’t you know what you wrote?

I told him I was checking the Thursday Report to see when the upcoming Major was.

He smiled and told me that if even I was checking my own Website for information then I must be doing something right.  That made me laugh.  But, it also struck me as me being kind of selfish for featuring Weather and Solunar on a days report just to make it easier for myself to check when I am on the water.

This day and this report might not be totally for you our audience.  It is probably more like 60% for you and 40% for me.  I probably check Thursday’s report every time I am on the water.  It is quick and easy and tells me what I need to know instantly.

We are going to continue bringing you Weather and Solunar Forecasts on Thursdays.  If you are one of our audience members that thinks Thursdays are a waste and stupid, I guess you will just have to skip this day.  For those of you that are believers, we will keep bringing it to you.
