Wednesday Weekly Ice Conditions #13

Back On 4 Wheels And A Heated Cab For The Stretch Run

Don’t let our featured photo scare you!!

That is a picture from the absolute worst place probably in the entire basin, Lake Alice.

That means that pretty much EVERY spot on the big lake is navigable by pick-up or SUV with 4 tires and not tracks.

We have seen a lot of dicussion on some forum boards about

I’m done, that ice isn’t safe!

and

You won’t catch me out there in a vehicle!

While no ice is ‘Safe ice’, it is our intent to drive on the ice for the foreseeable future.  The places we were at this weekend had a good 28-30 inches of ice and none of the top stuff  was chunking yet.  It was good solid ice.

A Wonderful Forecast In Store

The other GREAT news is the forecast:

(Day-High/Low)

Thursday- 28/13

Friday- 24/12

Saturday- 23/9

Sunday- 24/14

Monday- 27/13

Tuesday- 24/11

Wednesday- 26/17

Thursday- 27/15

Friday- 34/15

Saturday- 20/7

Sunday- 22/7

Monday- 21/8

Tuesday- 24/12

Wednesday- 29/17

What that forecast means is, our ice will be firming up again, that top slush and water will be hard ice again, and our Ice Fishing Season is probably getting extended into late March.

The best news we have had for the ice conditions this year in my opinion.

It’s Early But The Time To Look To Spring Fishing Is Upon Us

The ice is still on the lake and ice fishing is just going to get better from here on out.  We are always looking to the future though and the spring run-off and shore fishing the lake and coulees is just around the corner.

We are offering to you the chance at knowing where to go to capitalize on some of the best Walleye fishing of the season.  There is going to be a lot of run-off this spring and the coulees will be teeming with Pre-Spawn Walleyes.

If you have never been on a Devils Lake Basin Spring fishing trip, we strongly suggest you venture out and experience it, the results can be LEGENDARY!

Good Luck out there.

Hold On To Your Rod…

AND

CATCH MORE FISH
