Got Whitey??!!
We Did!
Along With Some Others As Well
While we never strictly target them, they are a welcome tussle as they put up a good fight. Add to that, White Bass also can mean there are big Perch either right along with them or in the near vicinity. Such was not the case with these, but we have seen it too many times for it to be coincidence.
We have also been doing quite a bit more Walleye fishing as of late, under 20 feet of water. A few days of client limits will get you geared up for the Walleye bite and it seems to have picked up a little bit as of late. On a search day, I had my 5 this morning in pretty quick order. The VERY clear water this year has pushed the bite window much earlier than normal. Going at 6:45 or 7 means that you probably missed it. Wheels down at 6 or 6:15 is a much better choice.
Going from about a week to a week and a half of strictly Perch fishing to almost strictly Walleye fishing can make a guy adjust a little. From Tungsten back to Buckshots. Mix in a few Varmints in there and the chance for a toad Perch or two and we are right back into our happy place.
Minnow Shortages and Big Warm-Up
Another minnow shortage has hit the Lake Region and minnows are becoming like gold. While it is no uncommon to have them, it seems like the last few years they have been becoming more frequent. If you have them, cherish them and take good care of them. If you don’t have them, you might be out of luck.
Some pretty scary cracks and fissures have really opened up some open water and large cracks out there, especially out in creel bay. Be wary over the next few days as the very warm weather will start contracting that ice making some interesting areas out there.
Good Luck out there!
