Getting ‘A LOT’ Better!
Basin fishing can be very frustrating and then very satisfying, all in the same day, sometimes in the same hour. We went from 12 fish in the bucket with yo-yo’s all over to a lot more than 12 in about half an hour.
To say it was a good day would be an understatement with how this year has been.
Well over 30 feet of water with no structure, just basin. No contours and nothing to see in the graph. Just sit and wait for the pods that you hope will come through. 15-20 minutes and we make a jump. Which way? Flip a coin, it really doesn’t matter, sometimes you can gauge which way to jump by which way the fish are moving and sometimes it is just throwing darts on a dart board and hoping you guess right.
We had to go through different baits as well. Started out with Minnow heads and buckshots, then it was Tungsten and spikes; next it was Varmints and minnow heads, then tungsten and spikes again. We had to judge the mood of the fish,`and it changed throughout the day, ending with a pretty intense flurry at the end.
Good Luck out there!
