We Continue To Stress Caution

That pic is about as thick as we have found out there, maybe an inch thicker up north, but 10 inches is about it, as you go east it gets thinner and thinner. In the 4 areas we have been to the last 4 days out west, we have seen or been reported to of 8-10 inches, which is progress and getting into that ‘Snobear Safe’ depth. As you travel east however, things get a little trickier. Foot or possibly small 4 wheeler travel out on the main by is JUST starting to become possible, make sure you bring a friend though.

East Bay is going to be a trouble spot. We had 8 inches on the 1st freeze but then were puckered up as we neared the 2nd freeze and we didn’t go any further, I was alone and didn’t feel like getting we. BTB is reported to be 6+ inches and some brave souls are using wheeled ATV/UTV’s. The fact that the weight of the tracks is making them put their wheels back on should tell you something, proceed with caution.

EDL is a whole different ball game. The biggest problem is probably the geese! Yes, the GEESE!! About 2,000 of em are keeping several areas over there open and with this weather, they probably will for a while. The extreme edges of that part of the lake are barely 3-4 inches. We were out there Sunday and I was terrified and it was not fun. Further south into Jerusalem Bay, we are getting better measurements, 6-7 inches.

We wish we had much better news for some parts of the lake, but with the weather we have had, it is still going to take some time before many areas of the lake are safe. In the mean time remember these rules:

Be Safe!! We Want You Back Again and Again!!

  • Drill as you go
  • Go on foot
  • Travel in at least pairs
  • Have picks and rope with
  • Make sure someone knows where you are going and when you should return.

NO FISH IS WORTH A LIFE!

Good Luck out there!
