And The Roller Coaster Of 2022 Ice Rolls On!!

The Winter Of Inconsistency!

Depths!

In the last 10 days we have caught keeper, quality walleyes in 6-43 feet of water. In the last 10 days we have caught Jumbo quality Perch in 9-54 feet of water.  Nice depth ranges, right?  Tough to establish a pattern and a contour line or depth range to concentrate on when the range is that big.  One of the problems with the inconsistent bite is that range right there.

Normally, 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water.  Right now, 100% of the fish are spread out all over.

Lures!!

If I could pick only two lures to go out onto the ice with, the choices would be simple.  The two would be:

  • 1/8 Ounce Gold Varmint
  • 1/8 Ounce Wonder Bread Buck Shot

Those two have probably been our best two presentations over the last ten day, both tipped with a minnow head.

Answers??!!

To be totally honest, we have none.  Right when we think we have them cornered, once we have them fisgured out, once we think that things are really looking up, days like today happen.  Sometimes you are the dog and sometimes you are the hydrant.  We were the hydrant today.  Only thing to do is dry out and get back at it tomorrow.

Good Luck out there!
