TOADS!!!!!
We love when we get to type that word and today, even though we didn’t get limits, the ones we did get were super charged and Super Tankers!! True Devils Lake…
TOADS!!
Gold Varmint 91/8 ounce) and Pink VMC UV; both tipped with minnow heads were the ticket to get the bites. I wish I would have found the ‘button’ earlier in the day but sometimes it takes just about the whole day to finally find the button.
We weren’t on a Vexilar Christmas Tree, just doubles and triples but when they came through, they were charged up and they bit!!
We found all of our fish today in 13-32 feet of water and the ‘money depth was right around 30 feet.
On Ice Conditions!
With the warm weather the previous two day, the snow settling a little bit, and now a cold snap; wheeled travel is again within reach. It is definitely possible on sunny days when you can see the drift. A little more troublesome on cloudy days but with a shovel and maybe traveling in tandem with another 4WD vehicle, it IS possible. Biggest problem that you will find is probably going to be at the accesses. Once on the ice sheet, give ‘er the onion and plow through!!
If we were to get another 2 or 3 days in a row of above freezing temperatures, it would really get us on the right track. Good news for the home stretch!!
Good Luck out there!
