Monday Ice Fishing Report 2021-22: Week 10

We Come To You With Questions…

…And Not A Lot Of Answers!!

We would love to tell you that it is a:

Get Here Now!

…moment.  We would love to tell you that the fish are jumping out of the hole and into our bucket.  We would love to tell you that they are biting on anything and everything.  Unfortunately, for us anyway, that is far from the case.

The ‘Struggle Bus’ is a lonely ride and we just can’t seem to get off.

We made a promise to our readers and to ourselves to have 100% transparency and not sugar coat things when they weren’t going as well as we would like.  Well, to be honest, I don’t know if I have ever been more frustrated about a bite (or lack thereof) as I am right now.

The Fish Are There!

They Just Won’t Bite Consistently!

Trust me when I tell you, the fish are there.  There are a number of places I know I can go right now and mark 2-4 feet of Perch basically all day.   I know of at least four areas I can go to and mark Walleyes constantly.  Problem is you can’t clean a mark.

I know that every year, during the mid-winter lull, things get tough.  They always go through a little bit of a dormant period before they start putting on the feed bag.  No year that I can remember however, has the bite been so, so, so inconsistent.

Walleye fish in 5-15 feet right now and you are just as likely to catch a Jumbo, chase Perch in 47 feet and you are just as likely to catch a keeper Walleye.  Perch seem spread out in all depths right now.  Our last good Perch day was in 21-23 feet of water and our searching in 30+ feet on Thursday and Friday resulted in not much.

We sat on Walleyes today and marked them constantly in 9-11 feet.  Very few bites though, and even those were lethargic and tough to set on.

There Is Good News!!

One positive is…

We don’t plan on quitting.

I don’t take these days really well.  I know my people in the SnoBear today could see the frustration on my face.  It is time to go back to the drawing board, time to do some homework, time to re-evaluate what has worked and what hasn’t.  We will be on the ice for about 13-days straight, hopefully we can bring you something tomorrow.

Good Luck out there!
