Took Almost Until Dark
But Well Worth It
Sometimes wind is key, and it is a goldilocks situation. Too much is not good, but zero is not good either; kinda has to be just right. Such was the case last evening. At the onset, we had a little breeze, not a chop, but just enough to make a ripple on the water and the fish were semi-active. About an hour in, it just died. Not a ripple on the water, and not a fish to be had. We changed locations twice trying to find any wave action.

About 3 hours in, we ended up getting our wind back and that is when it really started to happen. I didn’t know if we were going to have enough time to get the 15 that we needed but, in the end, we did it. Fifteen studs and we were on the way back, it was dark when we got back to the cleaning station, but it was well worth the effort.
Plastics and crankbaits were about equally effective, and Troy did manage one draping a spinner off the backside of the boat.
Water was anywhere from 54 to 58 degrees, and the water is pretty clear, as it always is this time of year.
Good Luck out there!
