Monday Weekly Fishing Report: Dec. 2, 2024

Back In The Saddle

And It Feels NICE!!

So, over the long holiday weekend, the lake basically is about 98% locked up. There we still A LOT of open water still as of Thursday/Friday, but with the wind dying over the weekend, that is now all gone. Now, most of that ice is going to be super thin for quite a few days, but to say that there are fishing opportunities would be an understatement. Stay away from the main bay and stick to the west and north and you should be o.k. It is super early so drill as you go and follow the ice fishing rules:

Be Safe!! We Want You Back Again and Again!!

  • Drill as you go
  • Go on foot
  • Travel in at least pairs
  • Have picks and rope with
  • Make sure someone knows where you are going and when you should return.

NO FISH IS WORTH A LIFE!

We have stayed on foot so far and while we haven’t had that ‘gold rush’ yet there seem to be a lot of Walleyes and a few Jumbo Perch in the mix Today we marked quite a few single and doubles early but only managed to get 4 to bite.

On the early ice, we lie to stay pretty shallow, under 25 feet of water. There will be times that we venture deeper than that, but it sure seems like early, the Walleyes and Perch are generally in those shallower depths.

Lure Presentation!

Loud, obnoxious, and as noticeable as possible. Many of these fish haven’t seen a lure in quite a bit and it seems like they are pretty easy to draw in. We like 1/8- and 1/4-ounce Buck shots along with Varmints when they go negative. Aggressive jigging it also preferred, the more active the fish, the more active we jig.

Good Luck out there!
