Going A Little Bit Deeper
There’s Hooks In Those Depths!
As we deal with daily thunderstorms that are always repositioning out fish from shallower to deeper and back again; it looks like we are about to get some pretty stable, summerlike weather for the 1st time this Summer. The last couple of days, aside from the storms, we were starting to build some warmer water days and that will only help matters.
Fishing, while at times spotty, has been pretty good if you are willing to wait em out. We have had lots of marks that seem like they just aren’t interested, and then they click on and it is game time. It is only going to get better as that water continues to warm, albeit they will start going deeper, as we say today; not quite to 30 feet of water, but darn close.
Spinners!!
About To Be Lead Core Time!
Our yearly program is basically:
-
Pitch Bite
-
Spinners
-
Lead Core
It is kind of what we have always done and it works for us. We aren’t bobber guys, and while we know that there are quite a few of you out there that are, we just have a hard time sitting watching a bobber when we could be out there on an active search. I like to move to find fish, I will inly sit with a bobber if everything else just isn’t producing, For the most part, we have been able to put fish on the cleaning room table.
We are getting into that range where lead core might start to show up in the report. The depths where we are finding fish now is getting pretty close to where we like to start trolling lead for some bigger fish. Still going to hit them with spinners, today we really got them with the Smile Blades, something to add to your toolbox.
Worms!!
The bait of choice right now, crawlers, and lots of them. We are going through 4-6 dozen on a guided trip. Just lots and lots of fish out there that are willing to bite. Might not be a bad idea to add crawler harnesses as well. Having some issue with the single hook, getting hits but nt hooking up and that stinger hook can alleviate that issue.
Good Luck out there!
