Monday Weekly Fishing Report: It’s Not About Fishing

And 100% About Being Safe Out There

Two tragedies were avoided today and thankfully no one was injured. It very easily could have been different and it very easily could have been me or you or someone YOU know. It seems, especially right after it has been really cold, we lose some fear of the ice and that is when something like today snaps us back to reality. As ‘A’ Fishing Report about Devils Lake, it is today that makes me want to get the news out there so that this doesn’t happen to someone else, and it doesn’t end up with much different outcome. People are going to keep going on the ice, people are going to keep fishing near ridges, some people are even going to continue to cross pressure ridges; by keeping yourself informed about the status of the ice, maybe we can continue to avoid a tragedy out there!

Lots Of Problem Spots Popped Up Today!

Sadly, those two weren’t the only 2 spots that could have really caused problems today. The Pressure ridge on Pelican Lake by Refuge Island, south of Grain Bin really opened up today. It was very near this exact spot where a Suburban crossed that ridge not 2 days ago. That is going to be a big problem area for quite some time as well, make sure you are aware of it.

After the two incidents occurred today, after we found out that everyone was ok, I am going to be honest with you; I was pretty shaken. I wasn’t my normal ‘drill, drill, drill self’. I don’t know if my clients could tell, but today really shook be a bit. You can be assured I will be very, very careful over the next few days, especially around any ice that looks even remotely out of sorts.

I am going to step away from the keyboard, we will publish the Monday Report in its entirety tomorrow.

Good Luck out there!
