A Pretty Substantial Layer Of Snow
And More To Come
Might Be One Of Those Years
When we say there is a pretty substantial layer of snow out there, we mean it. We looked for the thinnest portion of this part of the lake, and this was it, almost a foot at the shallowest. So basically, if you are going to try it without tracks, you are pretty much going to have to send it until you get to your destination and then worry about getting unstuck once you have arrived.
Not what a lot of you wanted to hear but that is the condition of the lake right now.
The Ice is Surprisingly Good
On the bright side, the ice itself is in really good condition. Haven’t measured anything under a foot in two days now. This last blast of cold air really seemed to finish of that last foot.
The Fish!!
We didn’t lay out 40 or 60 Perch like the last two days. We went to a different area and knew it wasn’t going to be those numbers, but we had hoped that we would find some ‘Toad’ quality fish. It started out a little slow but then we started marking and then catching.
23 Perch of which 15 would be what we like to call…
TOADS!!!!
Is just a really good day!!
Under 20 feet and a very slow presentation, almost dead sticking. Pink Buckshot with minnow head was a good option.
Good Luck out there!
