Fishing Report, Ice Fishing

Belly Rubbin’ Toads And A REAL THUMPER!!

Ya Think They Are Belly Down In The Mud?

Yeah, #metoo

A little bit of evidence that they have been belly down in the mud for quite some time.  Finally seeing some real action down there and the egg sacs are getting much bigger and veined up.  That later winter feeding pattern just may be picking up a little bit.  Add to that, we are approaching 30+ inches of ice and are in for another week long cold snap this week.

Gonna be ice fishing much later than our ‘cut short’ season a year ago.

We couldn’t get a sniff when we dropped the spikes but had some positive reactions when we dropped the Varmint or Buck Shot with a minnow head.  Bite windows were intense and then they would go dormant and very negative for periods of time.  We missed quite a few.  Not all bites were hard hits and quite a few just ‘leaned on it’

Some true Jumbo and Toad quality Perch in these areas and I lost two big, big ones.  Gonna lose a little sleep over those two for sure.

That ‘just about 30’ was a true beast.  Got stuck in the hole and we had to arm strong it up with the gaff, there was no doubt it was a wall mounter!!

Good Luck out there!
