Slowly Settling…
…Break Out The Small Stuff!!
All great bites slowly simmer for lots of reasons.
- Pressure
- Loss of forage
- Time of year
- Weather/Barometer
I think this situation can be 100% blamed on the weather. Fish that were flying up and thumping Buck Shots yesterday, were today just sitting and sitting and sitting. Watching the line tighten was more effective than watching the rod tip or trying to ‘feel’ a bite such a drastic change in behavior is definitely weather related.
If We Can Get There!
Blizzard Warning Going To Be An Issue!
As of this posting, it is looking like tomorrow could be nautical out there, a forecasted 4-8 inches of snow with 45 mph winds has prompted the NWS to issue a Blizzard Warning and safety, both yours and that of others, is primary.
If you are hell bent on going, bring some of those, Tungsten with spikes. We loaded ours up today with as many spikes as we could fit on the hook. We started the day off with Buck Shots and minnow heads with very little success. The only minnow tipped lure that we could actually get any fish on was the Gold Varmint. Otherwise, it was a finesse bite with the spikes. I know we missed 3X’s more fish than we caught, and we caught A LOT!!
What A Possible Blizzard Will Mean?
Well, it all depends on how much this light, fluffy snow blows around. If it stays relatively windy the whole time is snow, it should blow it off pretty well. Too much more snow out there and we are going to start to have some ‘wheeled travel’ issues.
It isn’t solid deep snow out there but it is getting drifty in some places. After the ‘dust’ clears tomorrow, we should know more and we will bring you that information tomorrow.
Good Luck out there!
