Eclipse and The Moon’s Pull- Great Fishing Ahead!!
Something Exciting Will Come To Much Of North America Monday
A total eclipse will give a bit of excitement, if only briefly, to a large swath of North America. What does that mean to us as fishermen. Well, maybe a lot.
Observations from around the world of wildlife behavior in past partial and total eclipse has revealed that many species treat the onset of the Total Eclipse as an abbreviated dusk, or late hour of the day. The waning of the eclipse is commonly treated as dawn by said species.
Here on the Northern Tier, we call those late and early hours of the day the Golden Hour. That period of time when, Walleyes especially, go kind of crazy. That light change effect under the water puts the Walleyes at a predatory advantage and they use this period to do a lot of their feeding. Monday might just be a bonus, 2 extra periods of increased Walleye activity.
I know one thing:
WE WILL BE ON THE WATER DURING THIS EVENT!
For Devils Lake, the onset of the Partial eclipse will begin roughly at 11:36 a.m., Maximum eclipse for us here will be at 12:55 p.m., and the ending of the partially eclipse period will end about 2:15 p.m.
We recommend that you don’t miss it!
