What Kind Of Devils Lake Fisherman Are You?

There is a vast, vast range of people that come to test their luck on the waters of Devils Lake.  Some are successful, some are moderately so, and some come and realize that fishing this lake can be a daunting task.

Some days it seems like the fish just jump in the boat while on others, well, not so much.

Coming to Devils Lake brings with it a lot of expectation and anticipation.  After a few days on the water, it can leave your head spinning.  Sometimes Devils Lake fish don’t follow the rules, sometimes they just don’t behave like even the locals expect them to.  It is these sometimes where one might need a little help, a little nudge.

What’s Your Category

I would put Devils Lake ‘fishermen’ into 5 major categories:

A.  The ‘Wing-It’:  This is the tourist that comes to Devils Lake after reading all the reports on the internet, sees all the Facebook posts, watches all of the TV shows and comes to the conclusion that catching Walleyes and Perch on Devils Lake is easy and they will just show up and catch fish, no homework required.

B.  The ‘One-Dayer’:  You pride yourself on being an above average fisherman but decide you might need a crash course and decide that a one day guided trip will give you all of the info you need for the rest of your trip.  You make the decision that you will maybe even try to sneak your hand-held onto the boat and maybe hijack a couple spots, what the heck.

C.  The ‘Local’:  You have it figured out, you fish the Big Devil a lot and know the nooks and crannies like the back of your hand.  You know that the transitions occur and you constantly have the water temps and your depth in your sights.  You love this lake for the challenge and routinely find success.

D.  The ‘4-dayer’:  You have been to Devils Lake before and know how daunting a task fishing this lake can be and have come to the decision with the rest of your buddies that it is just easier to leave the boats at home and jump into the boats of a guide and let him do the brain work and the only thing you and your buddies have to do is catch fish.

E.  The ‘DevilsLakeFishingReport’ customer:  You found this website off Google, or Facebook, or from a buddy, or saw one of our Business Cards at a bait shop.  You tried us out and had success even though you were a little skeptical about whether or not this whole thing was legit.  You found out that it is legit, our information is not a scam. The prospect of someone helping with location and real time information has you excited about making more regular trips to the Big Devil.

Something For All But One!

Of those categories, we have something for all but test default answer ‘C’.  Most locals don’t need our service and it wasn’t created with the local fisherman in mind.  For all other 4, though, DLFR has something that can help.  Be it just reading our ‘Monday Report’ for trends, buying a couple random Waypoints to put you in the right zone, hiring us for a one day trip to get a crash course, or hiring us for the guys weekend trip; Devils Lake Fishing Report will do the best job possible in attempting to fulfill your expectations of fishing Devils Lake.

Good Luck out there!
