Sometimes I Just Don’t Get It!
Fishing is one of two passions when it comes to my life. Setting my kids aside, Fishing and Hunting are the two things in my life that I am totally engrossed in. They occupy a huge part of my brain. At times, it takes effort to push those two things to the back burner.
I am usually smiling when I am participating those two activities. Even when just working on equipment or plans for those two activities, it brings happiness to my life.
When that effort and planning comes to fruition and leads to success in the field, it REALLY brings a smile to my face. I usually grin from ear to ear holding a fat Perch or wringing a plump Mallard.
If it has been a long and difficult day, sometimes just a smirk, but I almost always rejoice in just the experience. Success for me isn’t limits, success for me is the experience in this great state and this great area we call the Lake Region and the Northern Tier of North Dakota.
That’s Why I Don’t Get It!
I just don’t get some of the pictures that are posted on Facebook, and Instagram, and the like. A guy, and its always the guys, holding a wonderful specimen of the species they were after and the look on his face is blank.
REALLY?
No emotion?
No joy for the moment?
Who ever said that if you hunt or fish you have to be Mr. Serious, Mr. No Fun.
I have noticed a lot more of these types of pictures with a blooming craze that is rearing its ugly head in our outdoors sports, the forming of fishing and hunting “teams”(that is a topic for an entire separate post that will be coming soon).
They must make a pact that to be on the “Team Perch Pounders” you have to be a Debbie Downer in every picture. It blows my mind.
REJOICE!
I say rejoice in the moment, show the world you are happy to be doing what you are doing. If it causes you angst or pain or even sadness, don’t do it!
Take up golf, it’s cheaper.
I like to take it to a whole ‘nother level sometimes, overboard in fact.
Show the world that the joy of chasing a type of quarry brings elation, cause if it doesn’t, you are in it for the wrong reason.
If you truly are in that much pain from hunting or fishing, STOP!
So next time you pose for that successful trip picture, put on the smile, show the world you had fun, cause if you are out there not having fun, then really, why are you out there?
SMILE!!
Plans For The Weekend
We plan on hitting up 2 particular spots this weekend. Lake Alice to chase some Walleyes and Six Mile Bay for the mixed schools of White Bass, Crappie, and Jumbo Perch. Lots of fish being brought in and periodic explosions followed by glued to the bottom fish. Weather is going to be a factor as is pressure, so keep drilling and keep searching. There are a lot of fish out there that are putting on the feed bag to get ready for the pre-spawn migration and spawn.
Good Luck out there.
Hold On To Your Rod…
And…
