Fishing Report, Ice Fishing

YAHTZEE! 1st Ice Trip Of 2016-2017 Is In The Books!

Not Limits, But Oh So Good To Be Walking On Water Once Again!

Well, the first trip of the year is in the books, and while limits weren’t to be had, it felt great to watch a vexilar again, felt great to feel that thump on a short rod, felt GREAT to see that Walleye head come up the hole.

Truly NO OFF SEASON here in the Lake Region, the Canadas were buzzing us all morning but our passion for Hard Water fishing took hold and we had to do it.

Two inches to two and a half inches of rippled ice is probably not ideal but when ya gotta go ya gotta go.  Once we were out, it was firm and I never really felt queasy.

The First walleye of the year was a 20 inch pig that came out of nowhere and slammed a pink Rapala Jigging Rap

Healthy fish made us willing to brave the very windy conditions.

12-3-168

We didn’t find the button until after prime walleye hours but it was still a joy to be doing what we love to do!

12-4-161

Day 2 and we went right back to the same spot.  The wind had blown some water open and some of our holes from the previous day had succumbed to submersion, but we were able to get back on our spot.  It was worth it!

12-4-162

The weather front coming in might have hampered the bite but 3 beautiful Walleyes and 5 cold water Pike and 2 ‘lost at the hole’ Walleyes had smiles on our faces.

Feels great to be back in business, back on the Hard Water, will be bringing you reports and Ice conditions from here on out until we are no longer able to get on the ice sheet, hopefully it is late April.

Hold on to your Rod and…….
